Migration: A Swallow's Tale

Digital Technologies Project

Children in the senior classes worked on a digital technologies storyboarding and film production project - Foghlaim le Físeán with Mr. Vincent Daly. The production team at BCBC Productions researched the topic of Migration and wrote an excellent story - 'A Swallow's Tale'. The next step was to create a story board to outline the story and prepare for the filming and editing process.

Storyboarding

Our storyboards are very helpful when it comes to filming and editing. It helps producers, camera people, actors and editors to keep track of the story and the sequence of scenes in the film.

The children visited the Eye Cinema for the premiere of Migration: A Swallow's Tale.

Mr. Daly and the class were presented with the Foghlaim le Físeán Award. Comhghairdeas!

Green Flag Ceremony

We recently held our flag raising ceremony after being awarded our seventh renewal Green Schools Flag for outstanding achievement in improving the environmental quality of the school and community. Our school is very proud of its Green School Status and the green flag which will fly proudly here in front of the school. Well done to the Green Schools Team and to all classes for playing an important role in retaining our Green Schools status!

Our Green Schools Committee has been very busy this year!

The green schools programme is a leading international environmental education programme which promotes environmental action and awareness raising, all working towards creating a sustainable future. With everyone’s help in the school, we have continued to reduce litter and energy consumption.

The Green School’s team has been working hard on the theme of Global Citizenship: The Marine Environment. Some classes made trips to the aquarium or the beach, and we also had guest speakers visit the school. We now have an increased awareness of the importance of our oceans and its marine eco-systems.

This year our green school’s committee is made up of representatives from 3rd-6th class who oversee the implementation of the green’s schools programme in our school.  We take our environmental work very seriously and even the smallest efforts can go a long way in helping our environment and in promoting a sustainable future for everyone.

Our Green Code is: Keep our oceans nice and clean, no plastic should ever be seen!

Ms Lally’s Fifth Class attended the Green Schools National Marine Environment Conference in Athlone. In preparation for this, they put together an excellent project detailing the importance of the marine environment. It was a great day out full of fun activities and interesting talks.

Infants making links in our community through Aistear
