Wellbeing in school starts with the staff. They are in the front line of the essential work of providing a safe and supportive space for the students. The emotional and social wellbeing of the staff is paramount if they are to support student wellbeing and lead learning effectively.
Our priority at Claregalway NS is the wellbeing of our students as espoused in our school mission statement. We recognise the importance of students having positive role models. We want our students to feel like they belong, to feel comfortable, safe, connected, supported, optimistic, resilient, respected, and respectful towards others. We seek to promote a caring, inclusive and committed school community where everyone is valued as unique, one in which we work in collaboration so that we all recognise the importance of wellbeing.
6 Indicators of Wellbeing
In conjunction with the SPHE Whole-School Plan, Wellbeing in Claregalway NS is facilitated through the various programmes and initiatives that we have adopted in our school, and through integration with other subject areas so that children are exposed to the key indicators of Wellbeing throughout each school day.
A whole-school collaborative approach to Wellbeing has a positive effect on everyone involved. We believe it is extremely important that our staff as a whole work together, to focus on areas we feel should be developed in order to nurture the wellbeing of everybody within the school community.
