Cinéaltas is the Irish word for kindness.
Cineáltas means showing kindness, care and consideration towards others.
Cineáltas is central to the culture of our school. We promote positive, respectful and caring relationships where every child and adult is valued, listened to and treated with dignity. Through our whole-school approaches to wellbeing, inclusion and positive behaviour, we encourage pupils to develop empathy, kindness, respect and a sense of responsibility towards others.
The Department of Education published Cineáltas: Action Plan on Bullying (2022) which sets out a comprehensive roadmap to ensure that there is zero tolerance of bullying in Irish schools and that schools are places where every single child and young person feels welcomed, valued and understood.
The Department vision is centred on an Action Plan on Bullying that is practical, inclusive and contains a broad range of actions which help us all to work together towards a diverse, inclusive Irish society free from bullying in all its forms and where individual difference is valued and celebrated.
The implementation of the actions contained in Cineáltas: Action Plan on Bullying will help our children and young people to grow up in a society where these rights are protected.
Furthermore, this Action Plan on Bullying is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 24 which is focused on the provision of an inclusive and equitable quality education for all children and young people which is fundamental to creating a peaceful and prosperous world.
